Small chest of drawers by WK Möbel with black and white glass top, pear wood, 1950s

A beautiful chest of drawers from the German Werkstätten für Wohnkunst, whose distinctive design evokes the 1950s. A white glass top rests on the body, which features two hinged compartments. Above this, a black glass top with rounded corners ‘floats’, supported by two delicate steel brackets.

The body is made from blockboard veneered with pear wood; the leg structures and the surrounding decorative strip at the top are solid.

The chest of drawers has been sanded and finished with a satin-matt varnish. The black glass top has been replaced, whilst the white one remains in its original condition with slight signs of wear. The white glass top is 39 cm high.
