2 bedside tables by WK Möbel with black and white glass tops, pear wood, 1950s

A beautiful pair of bedside tables from the German Werkstätten für Wohnkunst, whose distinctive design evokes the 1950s. The body, featuring a flap compartment, is topped by a white glass panel. Above this, a black glass panel with rounded corners ‘floats’, supported by two delicate steel brackets.

The body is made from blockboard veneered with pear wood; the leg structures and the surrounding decorative strip at the top are solid.

The bedside tables have been sanded and finished with a satin-matt lacquer. The two white glass tops have been replaced, whilst the black ones remain in their original condition with slight signs of wear.
