It all began during my studies in our 100 m² basement in Aachen, where I refurbished old furniture for our shared flat, friends and relatives. My passion for craftsmanship now became my profession.
After many years as an engineer in Düsseldorf's heavy industry, the closure of my former employer's factories was a turning point in my life. I seized the opportunity to reorient myself and initially worked for Dieter Ferges, an experienced restorer in Düsseldorf, to professionalize my craftsmanship.
With the new skills I had gained, I started looking for a suitable workshop and finally found one very close to where I live. Today, I share a carpentry workshop with two colleagues, which still has all the machinery, lots of hand tools and a paint room. Of course, our two dogs - and nine chickens - are also there.
As nobody can do everything, I have built up a network of cooperation partners to meet the requirements of every piece of furniture.
Furniture from the 50s-70s unfortunately usually shows its age. That's why I work with an experienced upholsterer from Krefeld. Together, we assess for each piece of furniture whether a fresh cover is sufficient or whether the upholstery also needs to be replaced. When selecting the materials to be used, we stay as close to the original as possible.
60-year-old electrical appliances and lights should undergo a functional and safety check before being sold. This is carried out by an electrician from Düsseldorf-Kaiserswerth. According to his assessment, the items are rewired and tested if necessary and receive a corresponding certificate. In this way, we guarantee perfect function and safe handling for you.
I entrust the shipping of my midcentury treasures to a shipping company from Düsseldorf that specializes in transporting furniture. This guarantees that even particularly delicate pieces with glass or mirrors, for example, will arrive safely - without you having to dispose of a huge pile of packaging material.
Occasionally it is necessary to repair or replace metal parts. An experienced locksmith from Düsseldorf-Kaiserswerth does this for me. He also makes new legs/frames for sideboards or chests of drawers, for example.
I invite you to be inspired by the unique pieces at "Living Your Style."
Here, you'll find furniture that is not just a part of your home but also reflects your personal style.
